Display Screen Equipment (DSE) Safety and Best Practices
This course is designed for both users of display screen equipment (DSE) and those responsible for assessing DSE in the workplace. A “user” is anyone who regularly uses display screen equipment for a significant part of their work—typically for more than one hour a day.
While most people associate DSE with computer monitors, it also includes a wide range of other devices, such as laptops, tablets, smartphones, CNC control pads, portable diagnostic screens, and equipment with cathode ray tubes (CRTs). These devices are used in various industries and workplaces, and it’s crucial to understand the health and safety implications associated with their use.
The Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations provide guidelines for both employers and employees on how to use and set up DSE safely.
